Why Light Steel?

Steel has been used in construction since the 1880s. In the Twentieth Century damage caused by many wars drove the development of building options as Europe fought to rebuild – the steel industry benefitted strongly from developments that provided quicker, cleaner, and lower cost buildings. This continued in 1950s and 1960s – in fact right up today we’re still developing better and stronger steel products!

Not everyone is happy with this, brick makers and traditional builders see steel technology as disruptive – they are right, it is! That’s how mankind progresses. Today’s society, infrastructure, and technology are a product of the disruption of previous societal norms:

LSF is in many countries around the world, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America, many parts of Asia, and extensively in Africa. The industry is still relatively new in Zimbabwe, but we’re catching up. We need 2 million new homes, we’re working to ensure a good number of those are APEX HOMES.

APEX is a new company established in Bulawayo in 2022 to pursue the opportunities presented by the growth of Light Steel Framing (LSF) building technology.

We include team members among our directors and staff with many years of experience with this technology who we have brought together with the vision and mission to be the best. Modern LSF provides an alternative to established ‘Bricks and Mortar’.
